Musical Duel: the Nokia N82 vs the Sony Ericsson W960i
by Mark Bonnett
There's a big war happening in the world of mobile phones. A musical war. Two of the biggest contenders in this block rockin' beatdown are the Nokia N82 and Sony Ericsson W960i. It's clear from the outset that it's going to be a very close run battle. Both of the phones have astounding features, which against any other phone, would leave the competitor in the dust. But against each other, well... the competition might get a little more heated. The Nokia N82 takes an early lead, thanks to its massive, overwhelming set of features. Starting off with a 5 megapixel camera, the N82 easily morphs into your everyday, use it anywhere camera. And not only that, but with the brightest flash ever seen on a mobile phone and Cark Zeiss lenses, you're going to be getting lush, high-colour, pin-sharp photos. And it's as easy as going, "Quick, photo opportunity! N82 ready! *SNAP*!"On top of the camera, the Nokia N82 also has built-in GPS. I'm not just talking "oh, it can find its way, but you need to pay to use maps" either. I'm talking "built-in, completely free, costs you NOTHING to use it, full-on sat nav"! That is simply an astounding addition to the phone, and it sets it ahead once again, since it means you can leave another box (your old sat nav) at home. It's not looking good for the Sony, so far.However... the Sony Ericsson W960i is about to claw things back in a BIG way, thanks to its built-in music player. There's no two ways about it, the music player on the W960i is stunning. Frighteninly stunning. Well... it would be, wouldn't it, it's a Walkman music player. And of course, you know what that means? BEST MUSIC PLAYER ON THE PLANET. (Yes, in my opinion, far nicer than iTunes) Add to that the touchscreen interface, which Sony Ericsson know how to do in their sleep, and the W960i has made a massive comeback. So, in the end, there is no real winner. Or rather, there are two. Because both phones excel themselves, depending on what you want. If you want the best music player in a mobile phone, get the Sony Ericsson W960i. If you want the phone that's the best at everything else, get the Nokia N82...
